Issue #15

Dear Friends and Family,
I write this from a quiet campus. The kids began leaving yesterday to go home, and there are just a few left around now. We have until April 12 off. Everyone was ready for the break. Second Trimester is always really busy. At least we didn't have the heat this year that we had last year. It was a good trimester.

The seniors just returned last night from being gone on their senior trip for almost a week. They spent the week at San Pedro at the beach. They also had a conference during this time to help them to be prepared to make the adjustments of returning back to the States, Canada, or wherever home is to go to college next year.

The other day I was walking back to my classroom from being down at the chapel for 1st -3rd grade music. I had two girls walking with me Alexandra and Emily. Alexandra is a first grader and is French. She is just learning English this year. She does well, but still has some trouble saying some things, but this doesn't inhibit her talking. As usual she was telling me some story on the way, I was trying to keep up with it all, but it was a bit difficult. Apparently, Emily was too, because she kept saying, "What?" Alexandra would repeat herself, and Emily would say what again. After about 3 or 4 times of this, Alexandra said, "Are you blind?" I couldn't help laughing. Emily and I at the same time said, "deaf." Alexandra was just like, "Oh, whatever." We knew what she meant.

Please pray for the staff here at ICA or should I say lack of staff. Our numbers keep dwindling, and we have lots of openings for next year that haven't been filled. We have had some go home for short furloughs, some for deaths of family members, and others for health reasons. We started the year on a stream line staff so this makes it even more difficult. Pray for the current staff as we all work together to complete third trimester with most people doing their job and much more. Also pray for our staff for next year, we need some more people who want to be here.

Do you know of anyone who would like to be part of a wonderful ministry with MK's in Africa for as little as one year or for more? We have all kinds of openings, teaching and other staff. Some of our unfilled positions for next year are 4th grade teacher (1 year), 3 Middle School teachers, High School Science, High School Social Studies, Music All Grades, Special Education, Physical Education, Bookkeeper, Chaplain, Computer, Maintenance, and Guidance Counselor. I don't think any of these have been filled at this time. If you or anyone you know would be interested, please feel free to put them in contact with me, and I will get them in touch with the correct person.

Pray for Clarice Johnson, our station hostess. She had to return to the States a couple of weeks ago for health reasons. She has been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. She is meeting with a neurologist this next week to see how this is going to effect her future. Also remember her husband, Dave, who is still here finishing up the year teaching high school Science. They are scheduled for furlough this next year so they will have some time to sort things out.

Pray that our kids will have a good time at home with their parents and siblings and for all of those who will be traveling during this time.

I better bring this to a close. I am going to be keeping the Darriet children over night so their parents can have some time away. (Alexandra, mentioned above, is one of them.) They will be in here in a little while. This could be an interesting evening. The youngest, Nicholas, who is three, doesn't speak English, but at least I have William and Alexandra to translate for me. Also, still remember to pray for the father, Frederic, that he will become a Christian.

In Christ,
Traci
