Be amazed! Issue 3
As the holiday season approaches this mailing may go away for a short time. Something to do with events and possible family commitments. Some of you might understand this. <grin> Not a lot of fanfare this time. The weblinks for much of Africa that would be pertinent here are down this week. If you have any suggestions for links or content feel free to respond.
Prayers.
charley.
Dear Family and Friends,
It is becoming obvious that it is getting close to the end of the trimester. The kids (and I probably should say staff, too) are becoming anxious for school to get out. We only have 2 weeks and 3 days left. This is our longest trimester of the year with 13 weeks. The other two only have 11 weeks. The kids are very ready to go home.
Christmas has already started around here. Last Sunday night was the Christmas concert, and dorms and classroom are beginning to look like Christmas this week. The weather is starting to feel like Christmas, too. Christmas in Africa, that is. The weather is getting hotter and drier. The next thing we wait on is "snow." The Africans will begin burning their fields and ash will snow from the sky. Then we know it is time for Christmas.
This last week the eighth graders were gone to Man for Outdoor Education Week. This is a very beautiful place several hours away. From the pictures I have seen it looks like what you think when you hear rain forest. They had a great week except for one incident, which I will explain in the prayer request.
The elementary choir sang for church this morning. It was their first time to sing this year. I wasn't sure how they would do. During practice this morning they knocked down the modesty curtains on the stage 4 times. We made it through the service without them being knocked down once. They did a super job. Now, I just have to make sure we are ready for the musical in February. We still have a long way to go.
Prayer Updates and Requests for this week:
Please continue to pray for the Charter family. They continue to be hit with more things. Larry is still recovering from Hepatitis. Jessica is still recovering from a broken arm. This week while at outdoor ed. Jodi stuck her hand in a bush and was bit by something. She passed out before she was able to take one of the leaders back to show were she was bit. It was a really scary time for awhile. I think they had to take her to the hospital. She has seemed to be OK the last few days, but this morning during church she started feeling bad again and started having seizures. Early this afternoon they were taking her up to the Baptist Hospital in Ferke, a couple of hours away. Julie another one of the daughter's has to have something done to her foot. The only one's in the family that haven't been sick or had an injury are the mom, Pixie, and the oldest daughter, Jenny. Please pray for this family. Remember Pixie as she is trying to take care of everyone, and Larry that he won't be too frustrated on not being able to help out with the girls.
Pray that the kids will be able to stay focused this week in their studies.
Pray for continued protection against sickness, especially malaria, and injuries.
Thanks for your prayers.
