Issue #30
Sept. 27, 1999

Dear Friends and Family,

As usual the time is flying by here. In just a few more days September will be over. It seems we just started this month. I guess that is a good thing since this trimester is going to be longer than normal. The school extended this trimester so we could start the second trimester later due to Y2K.

This was a busy weekend. On Friday night we had different games for the kids. They were divided up into age groups. I'm not sure what all of the groups did. The middle school girls had a Futuristic Fashion Show. I think they really enjoyed it. The middle school boys played some game in the dark. I think it was probably like Capture the Flag. The younger kids played towel soccer, American Eagle, Red Rover, balloon soccer, and a variety of tag games. Everyone had lots of fun. Saturday morning was a kickball tournament for the 1st -6th graders.

The week was also busy with activities. The doctor was here so everyone except for those just returning from furlough had to have physicals. The doctor found very few things wrong with the staff and kids so that was good.

I think these will get back to normal around here this week. I'm not exactly sure what normal is because I'm sure there will be something else we are supposed to be doing. We are in the middle of accreditation this year, too. We are having lots of all staff meetings so we can get our accreditation report written.

Praise:
*Three people were saved yesterday when the high school kids went into town to witness.
*One of the students who has been having some real struggles committed her life to God.
*Lots of parents arrived in safely this weekend.

Prayer:
*Jean, our head custodian, lost his 6 year old son this past week. They have no idea what caused him to die. Pray for his family.
*Container - It still has not made its way up country. I'm not sure what we are waiting on now. The supplies that are in it are really needed.
*Music Teacher - We need a music teacher that can arrive here soon. There is no music for the high school this year, and only band for the middle school. We have lots of students really interested in music, and they are missing out this year.
*Kema - He was moved back to my class this week from 4th grade. He seems to be making the adjustments. He is also having a hard time getting used to be at a boarding school away from his parents. He is a non-mission student. His dad works for the bank in Abidjan.

Hope you all have a good week. Thanks!!!
