Dear Friends and Family,
It is now Sunday evening, and I can breathe a sigh of relief. The elementary was in charge of the service this evening. Somehow I ended up in charge of it. I let the kids decide and prepare what they wanted to do. It did make things a bit interesting, but it turned out OK. There were a variety of things, puppets, trios, quartets, story reading, piano duet, violin solo, and skits. It was a fun time for the kids.
The funny story of the week happened in Bible class this week. The kids were writing verses on one of their Bible worksheets. I guess one of the kids was having a hard time thinking of the verse he needed so he just wrote down the only one he could think of only he got it a little messed up. His verse was, "Jesus swept." It gave me a chuckle when I read it.
I had another snake experience today. As I came out of the chapel after service this morning, I saw a dog, Belle, sitting and staring at the ground. There were some kids over near her so I asked them what she was staring at. They looked and replied a snake, as if it were no big deal. I walked over and could barely find it. I called Belle to get away from it because I was afraid she was going to get bit. Belle's owner came over and killed it. It was either an adder or a viper.
Friday night was a big activity on campus. It is probably the middle school and high school's favorite activity. They played "Mission Impossible." The whole campus is blacked out while the teams go in search of bomb parts and bombs. They have clues to help them find the parts. They also have to watch out for staff who can "kill" them with a flashlight. This is not the nurse's favorite night. I think we made it through this year without any major injuries or stitches, and the intramural team that I am on won!
We have about a month left of school, but people are already getting ready to leave. We have several students leaving early. Some leave as early as the end of this week. Pray for those who will be leaving, the seniors, and those going on furlough. We also have several of last year's graduates here visiting, and I'm sure several more will show up in the next few weeks. Continue to pray for those who are traveling.
In Christ,
Traci
