Dear Friends and Family,
"Line up for your shot." This was what many people around campus heard this last week. Due to the cases of typhoid on campus, everyone that wasn't already vaccinated had to be vaccinated last week. This didn't go over too well with the elementary kids as you can imagine. I think most everyone is well now, and there haven't been any new cases of typhoid or malaria in the last few days.
My class is doing fine. Of course, I am getting to sit back and observe right now. My student teacher will be teaching everything for the next four weeks. I continue to teach music and to give him advice where needed. I think I will be finding things to do elsewhere soon. There is never a shortage of work. I have already spent time reading testing materials for the resource room teacher.
This last Friday night I was invited to be part of the dorm dinner in Bethesda, an elementary dorm. It was a lot of fun. The elementary dorms played in petit poteau games. After that was one of the biggest petit poteau games of the year, the two high school boys' dorms played each other, Brethren vs. Beth-Eden. Brethren, the Free Will Baptist dorm, won the game 2-1. The two high school girls' dorms also played each other in soccer. I'm not sure what the outcome of that was.
The political situation remains the same. We are waiting until next week when the candidates are supposed to be announced to see what is going to happen. Please continue to pray for this situation.
Continue to pray for the health of the students and staff. One student has been in Abidjan the last few days having tests. She had malaria and typhoid, but it is unsure if maybe there is something else, too. Pray for parents who are traveling to visit their kids in the next few weeks.
In Christ,
Traci Epps
